congress in history? >> the public is implicated in this. 2008 the public elected president obama, democratic house, democratic senate. 2010, a large number of people in the public changed their minds they got angry at us over health care, which was misunderstood, angry at us because we inherited a section that we weren't able to defeat because of their obstruction. in 010 -- in most democracies that would be it. we have a constitution under which it's called the staggered powers, checks and balances, the last three elections are there. the problem is in 2008 you had one group of people elected, in 2010, another. there wasn't simply the people in 2010 were conservative. very substantial number of the people elected as republicans in 2010 do not believe in governance. they do not understand there are things we need for the quality of life we have to come together. this isn't bob dole. this isn't howard baker. this isn't ronald reagan. these are people that are quite extreme. what's happened is that many republican whose believe in compromise and trying work things out some defeated

, president obama quietly signed a executive order that gives a small pay raise to two million federal workers and a small pay raise to all 535 members of congress. they will get an extra $900 each in the forthcoming year starting march 27th. but they get a pay raise. so the people who could not come to an agreement on cutting spending will in fact be spending more on themselves using money which we do not have. heather: speaking of all that spending we are expected to hit the debt ceiling in just hours. another blow to the economy. >> that means that we are about to run out of money and we can not borrow anymore. treasury secretary tim geithner says, well, we'll move some money around so we won't default on our obligations but nonetheless we are out of money. this means if a debt ceiling deal is not included any fiscal cliff deal, and it is not likely to be. gregg: then this debt mess continues for a few months. and we've still got to argue that out in congress between congress and the president. heather: geithner said last thursday, he called them, trort nary measures would have to be taken

successful, 2006, 2008 the republican congress took a beating. rom emmanuel hatched a plan to go after republicans with conservative democrats, and they took over the majority. nancy pelosi was put in as speaker. they passed obama care and all of this other stuff on the nation. but then in 2010 those moderate democrats or conservative democrats were defeated by conservative republicans who ran as pro life, pro marriage and smaller government and less taxes and that we have now the most conservative house of representatives in modern history. those issues win when they come from the heart as you have shown and then you can talk about them. the problem is we've got some republicans that only want to talk about these things at election time only to check the boxes and not because it eminates from the heart. >> it is going to be an interesting time to watch and see if the message continues to permeate in the leadership of the party. you are right. if it does, and the pro life and pro family voters who are by the way always fiscal conservatives, if they have no where else to go , they will
